Dr. Sam Awuku

Dr. Sam Awuku is the Key Advisor for Leadership, Institutional Development & Secondary Education. He worked as an Education and Development Consultant who supported the T-TEL programme as the Key Adviser for the Policy, Leadership, Institutional Development and Communications workstream. Sam’s work at T-TEL has brought about a huge transformation in how Ghanaian Colleges of Education are led and governed. Through a comprehensive strategy and cutting-edge college improvement coaching and leadership professional development, Colleges of Education can now boast of robust institutional strengthening systems. Regulatory bodies such as the National Accreditation Board, National Council for Tertiary Education, National Teaching Council, National Inspectorate Board and the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment have all benefited from Sam’s technical support through T-TEL.

An alumnus of the UCL Institute of Education, UK with a Ph.D., Dr. Sam Awuku’s areas of expertise are: education technology and development policies, organisational development, quality assurance in education, inclusive education, curriculum development, mathematics education, leadership and governance of NGOs and public engagement. During the COVID-19 school closures, Sam led the Virtual Learning Taskforce set up by NCTE and T-TEL to provide Emergency Remote Teaching and Learning in all 46 Colleges of Education. This initiative has enabled over 85% of student teachers to receive remote teaching during the second semester of the 2019/20 school year. ​
