Akwasi Addae-Boahene

Akwasi Addae-Boahene is a strategic management, education policy and reform expert, with strong experience in the design and management of education programs, and currently the Chief Technical Advisor of the Transforming Teaching, Education and Learning (T-TEL). Akwasi has 28 years of direct management experience implementing successful programs in education and policy reform with the Government of Ghana and 25 years’ experience working with International Development Organisations.
Mr. Akwasi Addae-Boahene was formerly Education Policy Advisor at the Education Reform Secretariat of the Ministry of Education in Ghana. Before taking up the role at the Ministry, he was the Chief Technical Adviser (2017-2019) and National Programme Manager of the FCDO funded Transforming Teacher Education and Learning (T-TEL) project in Ghana from 2014 to 2017, implemented by Cambridge Education.
From 2013 to 2014, he was the Executive Director of Associates for Development Partnerships (ADP) and was the Country Director of World University Service of Canada (WUSC) in Ghana from 2004 to 2013. As Country Director for WUSC, he was responsible for a portfolio of education and community development projects implemented in Ghana, with funding from USAID, CIDA and others. In addition, Mr. Addae-Boahene was the Chief of Party for the Ghana Education Decentralization Project (GEDP) funded by USAID and implemented by WUSC in collaboration with Ghana’s Ministry of Education from 2010 to 2012, and Project Director for the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai District Development Project.
He was briefly the Director for Field Operations for the SHAPE Project implemented by World Education based in Boston, USA and funded by USAID/Ghana in 2004, and the Associate Director for Field Activities of the Community School Alliances (CSA) Project, a component of the USAID funded Quality Improvement in Primary Schools (QUIPS) Program in Ghana from 1998 to December 2003.
Akwasi Addae-Boahene was the National Project Coordinator of the World Bank funded Schooling Improvement Fund Project implemented by the Ministry of Education through Centre for the Development of People (CEDEP) from 1996 to 1998. Before then, Akwasi worked for GNPC as the Project Coordinator for the Mole Project from 1993 to 1996.
